The Middle School band and drumline program serves as a comprehensive musical journey, beginning with the selection and mastery of a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument within a collaborative group setting. As they progress, musicians are challenged to expand their technical range, mastering complex key signatures, refined articulations, and expressive vibrato, to perform sophisticated repertoire with confidence and precision.
Develop essential instrumental skills, including proper care, posture, and tone generation, while progressing to advanced techniques such as complex articulations, alternate fingerings, and major scales.
Build a rigorous foundation in music theory and vocabulary, moving from basic notation and symbols to the analysis of complex musical patterns.
Cultivate the "ensemble aptitude" necessary to transition from individual practice to full-band performance, fostering a shared focus on collective musical expression and group goals.
