Elementary School Arts Programs
Art
Starting in Elementary school, our students study the evolution of art with the understanding that God is the first and ultimate Artist, the divine Architect whose work inspires everything we create at Rosehill. In Elementary art students will learn the following:
Mastery of Fundamentals: Apply the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create technically sound and visually compelling works.
Historical Literacy: Trace the evolution of creativity from prehistoric origins through contemporary movements, understanding art as a continuous human narrative.
Artistic Appreciation: Analyze the techniques of master artists to inspire and inform the development of a unique, personal style.
Diverse Media Exploration: Gain proficiency across a broad spectrum of media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, fiber arts, and three-dimensional sculpture.
Interdisciplinary Synthesis: Discover the vital connections between the visual arts and core subjects like history, mathematics, science, and language arts.
Music
Music at Rosehill is more than a melody; it is a bridge to academic success. From improving literacy to strengthening logical reasoning in math and science, our early music program equips students to excel in every area of their education. In Elementary music, students will learn the following:
Instrumental Discovery: Explore and master a diverse range of pitched and unpitched instruments to accompany songs and traditional games from global cultures.
Musical Literacy: Develop the ability to read and perform rhythmic notation, utilizing both conventional symbols—such as quarter notes and eighth notes—and creative, nontraditional imagery.
Cultural & Historical Fluency: Examine and perform a vibrant repertoire of music spanning various stylistic periods and world cultures.
Interdisciplinary Connections: Bridge the gap between music, other artistic disciplines, and core academic subjects to better understand the world.
Vocal Development: Cultivate confidence in singing within a developmentally appropriate range, focusing on pitch accuracy and the mastery of melodic patterns.
Visual arts are essential to the education of students at Rosehill Christian School.
Arts education benefits the whole school culture; including motivation, attitudes, and attendance.
